025 Inka and Teppo and Leo P, Espoo, Finland

No this card is not because I think a diet is required. Just a hint to a world I imagine Inka to be well into - the homely, cooking Mumsy world. We're right behind you!

024 Alicia T, Sydney, Australia

Nothing can compare to that sulphur flavour of food cooked in a thermal hot spring.

023 Sofie S, Hertfordshire, UK

The longest address in the world shows as being the loneliest destination in the world - a field out in the middle of nowhere :(

At least it's on Dickens Boulevard though!

022 Travis C, North Williamstown, Melbourne

Travis, we'll always have Doha.

And cheese. And ghee. And spiced rum. And club sandwiches. And Caravan.

021 Mattia F, Renens, Switzerland

Propio una schivezza!

I have had this postcard, one of a set of equally humourous, since I lived in Italy in 1993. This is the last, and I'm glad it's gone to a good home.

Translation is 'Greetings from the Riviera!'.

019 Nick A, Bondi, Sydney

Ah the sexy and talented Salman Khan. His name may remind you of a fish curry, but his music will hot as chutney!

Arnold, there's alot you could learn from Mr Khan, if only you would open your heart to his melody.

018 Kobus Kuch, Delft, Netherlands

I actually customised this card before I sent it, by adding speech bubbles - but forgot to scan!

This has been sent to Jeroen, owner of the Kobus Kuch cafe, home of the De Lekkerste apple pie Van . And the true embodiment of gezelligheid, that most elusive by highly sought after Dutch ambiance (translation: A cosy feeling that comes from a sheltering environment and empathetic company).

But I have to admit, as much as re-connecting with Jeroen and his fabulous cafe that I spent so much time in when in Holland, I also really really want track down my old flatmates who used to work there.

Help me!

017 Diane M, Ann Arbor, USA

It can be hard to chose what card to send to which person.

Who, for example, will enjoy the one of an enormous hunk of Swiss cheese? Who will go for the picture of haggis, who wants to see Pretoria by night, circa 1963?

Sometime something jumps out, like the pony for Sarah below ('Buy me a pony!' being one of her much-used saying back when), others seem to make sense for someone for no apparent reason.

I hope I was right with this one?

016 Ashley E, Sydney, Australia

Och aye the noo - it's a bonny Scots loch!

015 Eloise G, Melbourne, Australia

This card is plain eerie. Feels post-apocalyptic. Only the children have survived. No more trees, just this purple bush. We live in a space bunker. What the hell is this place?

013 Derek A, Melbourne, Australia

Continuing on a fertility theme, here's a guy who knows all about it. Virile guy, father of us all. It's also Popec, so the Christian theme fits well too.

Bless.

012 Alice P, Darwin, Australia

We can safely announce today that Gen is 12 weeks pregnant. We just had an ultrasound and everything's safe. Obviously is not a pic from the scan, that would be well creepy!

011 Anna S, New York, New York

Anna is engaged! Congratulations to you and Mister. Hope you can make it down here as part of your honeymoon.

010 Piers S, Somerset, UK

Mr Piers, a man after my own postal heart. How's this for a serendipitous message:

'I think adding a friend to Facebook is far too easy...

If you want to be added as my friend, please send a postcard to my address.

To be clear - this isn't personal - just me wanting to use Facebook with one of my favourite old school applications - the postal service.

The most original postcards received will be displayed on Facebook.'

I hope he is satisfied with the bridges and barges of this card and I make not only his Friend, but his postcard honour roll. Love to see what else he's got.

From the dark marshes of bonny Scotland to the bright lights of North North Hollywood.

008 Holly J, Perth, Australia

This card is so hokey and evocative of another time and place, I couldn't help but take on the persona of a local when writing it.

The card shows a coracle fisherman. I assumed he was fishing for coracles, but actually, a coracle is the small lightweight boat used in Wales and such.

The guy in the boat looks pretty chuffed with the whole thing.

007 Dama R, Melbourne, Australia

Aaah lenticular.

It's sort of hi-tech. Here, you get a photo of a princess mixing with a Bollywood hunk. Has this effect ever looked so creepy?

006, Fergus J, Jakarta, Indonesia

Something about a Norwegian postcard sent to an Australian living in Jakarta just felt so wrong it was right.

005, Beth S, Alice Springs, NT

One of my favourite postcards has gone out to the Postcard originator in Alice.

I wonder what she thinks of my mixing the old-fashioned with all this internets snazz?

ADDITION: Beth has a scan of her card up on her Flickr site! She also has a record of her project here.

004, Celia D, Sydney, Australia

This little doozy comes with a recipe on the back for the 's Scotch Shortbread.

I'm no shortening afficianado, but I think I like the cut of the Countess' jib. Wikipedia tells me she was around in the late 1700s - as a true gourmet, would this recipe still hold up today?

003 Florian G, Leicester UK

The original frolicking frog, the original exchange student, the one and only Flovic. Welcome to Rhodesia. How does it compare to Leicester city?

002 Sophie T, Melbourne, Australia

This one goes out to the original Fathead. So much burbs, so many basslines, so much cat pee and the occasional chicken-nugget-in-ear action. So many great times.

This postcard is one of a stellar collection from Qatar. There wasn't a hell of a lot to do over there, so seeking fun stuff like this was an essential way to stay amused.

I bought a couple of copies of this attractive man and I believe some of those may still grace the fridge doors of those who received them. But this is the last one I had of him, and now he's free!

So, Avinash Vidhawan - hot or not?

001 Stefano C, Milan, Italy

Wrote and sent my first postcard today to Stefano in Milano. I chose the one postcard I have which is actually in two pieces - maybe he will get the last postcard I send, in a year, and it will be the other half of the card. That assumes that neither he or I lose the other half down the back of the fridge before then.

So Steve, I think the next thing to do would be digitize those hilarious videos we made in the backyard in Solaro. Oh dear...

Here we go!

Well friends tomorrow I write and post my first of 365 postcards, taking me right up to this time next year.

I think I'm all set - I've got stamps, I've this little blog going, I bought about 300 vintage postcards on Ebay, and I have a rubber stamp with the blog address on it.

Now all I have to do is start choosing what to write, who to write to, get to the post box every day, and remember to log it all in here.
