October

There goes another month, and with it the first 100 postcards, and two trimesters.

117 Giles C, Bittern, Australia

Giles and I used to work together at Da Ice Bergz. He lives in Victoria now with a growing family. But he'll always be Money Makin Manhatten to me.

116 Mee Mee, Sapa, Vietnam

Ross and I met Mee Mee when were in Sapa for about a week. She was selling brocade and silver jewelry by day then, after trouncing us at cards, trekking back to her village.

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

115 Dalila R, La Spezia, Italy

Dalila came to Sydney as an exchange student and lived with our good family friends Toby and Josie.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

114 Zander R, Surry Hills, Australia

It was my brother's birthday this week, and this card celebrates his transformation from the Bollywood woman he was before we started going to the gym together, into the pimpin muscle box he is now.

Monday, October 27, 2008

113 Alistair C, St Kilda, Australia

Alistair used to also schlep around the Old Fitz back in the day.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

112 Rachel C, Enmore, Australia

Rachel was known as Pommy at school.

Saturday, October 25, 2008

111 Gut and Kristy, Bondi Junction, Australia

Gut and Kristy have just bought a new house. If only their view could be this picture postcard boring.

Friday, October 24, 2008

110 Jacquie F, Manly, Australia

Jacquie worked in the video store back in the day, as well as being a fellow exchange student to Italy.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

109 Tony R, Raceland, USA

Tony was an exchange student to Newtown in 1994. He played a mean penguin

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

108 Anita S, Willoughby, Australia

Anita and I were at school together. She can sing Big Yellow Taxi so well Joanie Mitchell gets jealous!

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

107 Noo Y and Tom S, Rushcutters Bay, Australia

Noo was at school with Gen and Tom is her husband. And a fine cook. Hope he learns this hearty treat, it even has the recipe on the reverse.

Monday, October 20, 2008

106 Thommy T, Bondi, Australia

This is the second card I've sent Thommy as part of a package. He has taken over my role as art director of Cyclic Defrost Magazine.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

105 Dua C and Ben G, Redfern, Australia

Dua and Ben announced their engagement this week, and we congratulate them!

Saturday, October 18, 2008

104 Siobhan G, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Another luscious Norwegian card for for this parched desert inhabitant. Siobhan and I worked together in Qatar, and after a while in Sydney she raced back to the dust.

Friday, October 17, 2008

103 Rowan M, Balmain, Australia

I was also at school with Rowan. I really like this postcard - the way the fellow is stopped dead in his tracks to take in view.

Thursday, October 16, 2008

102 Hugh B, Surry Hills, Australia

I went to school with Blair, he looks dapper in a hat, much as an aging Monet does here.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

101 Caela H, Hope Island, Australia

Caela is an old workmate who sailed away to live in Queensland.

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

100 Coriene M, Delft, The Netherlands

Cor was one of my uncredible flatmates in Holland in 1998, all of whom I missed very much. She's also lucky to receive the milestone card of number 100!

Monday, October 13, 2008

099 Glenda P, Dulwich Hill, Australia

Glenda was a year above me at school, but because I was in 'accelerated' art, we were in the same class. This card reminds me of something she drew in class, apparently of a tattoo on her ankle.

Sunday, October 12, 2008

098 Casey B, Los Angeles, USA

Casey B is my (step) bro, who lives with his puppy in LA. Invasion alert - we may be invading your shores next year!

Saturday, October 11, 2008

097 Jo R, East St Kilda, Australia

I met Jo through Sophie T on a summer's day 10? years ago? I have chosen this 'beach scene' from Qatar as Jo has water for blood.

Friday, October 10, 2008

096 Dan N, London, UK

Dan and I worked together in Perth in 2002. He moved to London with his girlfriend Fiona and I returned to Sydney with Gen. Dan is a funny bugger and I think he will find this postcard of a Big Old Tree humorous. What's NOT funny about it??

Thursday, October 9, 2008

095 Anna B, Athens, Greece

Anna was in Qatar working on the Asian Games when I was, but returned home early for some kind of very worthwhile job in an NGO, putting the rest of us to shame. Mykonos is not quite Athens, but I thought she might be interested in this vintage card, and would be able to tell me if it still looks like this

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

094 Russell H and Dana A, Enmore, Australia

Russell is one of m oldest school mates and Dana is his lovely girlfriend. I hope they like bacon broth! I certainly love this very peculiar card...

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

093 Richard O and Amy P, London, UK

Richard is one of my oldest and best mates from high school. Amy is his girlfriend from London, where he's been living for the past few years. It's been too long between drinks, but I hope to remedy that with a visit next year.

Monday, October 6, 2008

092 Pamela W, Farmborough Heights, Australia

This is and RSVP for my cousin Tristan's wedding to Melissa, sent to the bride's mother. We're very much looking forward to this beach wedding in the coming summer. The only question is what will a very pregnant Gen be able to wear?

Sunday, October 5, 2008

091 Juniper V, Tahoe City, USA

Juniper and I were friends on exchange to Italy when I was 14/15. We have not spoken since then but I have a feeling she's turned out alright! Why did you leave Flagstaff, Arizona anyway? I love the name of that place. Flagstaff!!

Saturday, October 4, 2008

090 Jason B, Highgate, Australia

Jason is another friend made through the interwebs. He lives with his partner and new baby around the corner from where we nested in Perth.

Friday, October 3, 2008

089 Mette G, Koebenhavn N, Denmark

Mette is another host sister. She has boogers! Jokes.

Thursday, October 2, 2008

088 Marilena and Enzo C, Solaro, Italy

Marilena and Enzo were my host parents when I lived in Italy way back in 1993. I have been very slack in staying in touch and the last time I was there was almost 10 years ago! My sister Rose is heading over to Italy in November and I hope she can meet them and they can impart some of their art, history and Italian knowledge on her ear holes.

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

087 Ruby P, Kensington Park, Australia

Ruby is my 'baby' cousin from that wonderful place Oodnadatta. So struck was she by Gen's selection of the Sigur Ros song Saeglopur that I'm sending her a doco about the band and the album Takk from which the song is taken.
